Dr. Rivet Background

Dr. Marc-Edouard Rivet, MD/CM
Marc was born into a well to do family just outside the city of Quebec, Canada and from a very young age was raised by absentee parents who left him in the care of a Nanny. Marc grew up in a somewhat controlled environment where his life was pretty well planned out by his parents. He attended a private pre-school and went on to a boarding school outside of Montreal. When he finally came of age his parents moved him into a private high school which prepared him for his journey of becoming a doctor. It was just a few months after Marc moved to his dorms at McGill University in Montreal that his mother killed his father and then took her own life.

The months that followed were chaotic for Marc and he clung on to his education and his freshman year at McGill like a security blanket. He took his parents estate and sold what he could to pay for his education/boarding/supplies in hopes that once he became a doctor he’d be able to support himself. It was during this time that he met Lisa Cameron. Lisa was very close to Marc and the two spent almost two years together as a couple but when Marc started focusing more on his education than his relationship the two fell apart and eventually parted ways.

When Marc finally graduated from University with a Bachelor’s of Science degree he continued on into the medical program. He was one out of just over one-hundred students that were accepted into his class. Over the next four years Marc spent many a sleepless nights working to become a doctor and when all was said and done he graduated with his medical degree in the top 5 of his class. He then moved on to Montreal Medical Centre and became an intern for a year.

When his internship was over he stayed for another two years with the Medical Centre and finished his internal medicine residency, but instead of sticking around as an attending Internist there he left and headed across town to Montreal General and joined their Surgical residency program. He spent three years completing his residency there and when he was done he decided to stick around and work for the hospital.

At first, he was shuffled around wherever he was needed. He was given a batch of case files and a small team of residents and interns to oversee. He often assisted in surgeries when he was needed. He typically worked a 36 hour shift followed by 12 hours off. These hours were spread around between performing rounds, informing his residents, training his interns, spending time in surgery, working in the ER or the Acute Care clinic or simply being on-call. His days were long and he often had little time to rest, but Marc enjoyed being able to always keep busy. At the end of his first year as an internist he was given a mandatory vacation of 3 weeks. Wanting to travel someplace warm he decided to take a cruise and it just so happened that the Disney cruise was the first thing available to him. He booked himself a seaside suite and completed all of his proper paperwork and headed off.
