LINE 12 – NARRATIVE: Continuation of SITREP-C035-10: As Dr. Bernstein’s long and informative history lesson finally gets to the point of why the hell Tabitha is so damed important I struggle to figure out how any of it helps us in our current situation. I think as far as we are concerned regardless of what the good Dr. Bernstein says if Tabitha wants to help, so far she has been invaluable to our group, we will be thankful for her help. I realize that Mr. Barclay is standing around in his skivvies and I think he notices this as well because he goes to get cloths.
Time is growing short for Desiree so we need to get a move on. We get ready to go to the infirmary. I ask Lisa to come with us. Tabitha is comeing as is one of the young men in her squad. To help us cover our movement we get an other member of Tabitha’s squad to play music over the P.A. system. I ask the young man if he can minimize the dead space inbetween songs and he starts to try and give me a current technology lesson. I look to Lisa and ask if I really look that old to my dismay she says yes.
The group goes up the mid ships stair-well. We kill the zombies(S.Z.) up to deck one. I try to inch open the door and probe with my mirror but some zombies(S.Z.) are right at the door and see me. They attack. In the fight Kevin kills three, Dr. Rivet kills one, Mr. Barclay kills one, and I think I manage to kill one. You would think that being a retired Marine I mite have some combat skills but maybe I should ask Kevin the Carpenter to give me a refresher course. We sneak into the infirmary. There are two zombies(S.Z.) walking around in the infirmary we re-kill them. I dispatch the zombies(S.Z.) strapped to the beds. Dr. Rivet organizes our looting of the med supplies. We decide to drop off the med supplies back at the engine room before we try to get Addison White.
I try my sat-phone to call an emergency number I know should be open no joy.
We saw that there were some open doors about six doors down from the room Addison White is in. Mr. Barclay makes a phone call that distracts the zombies(S.Z.) its a good thing too because there is a shit load of them in the hallway. We get back up to deck one and Kevin sneaks Addison’s door and retrieves her and her son. We manage to get back down to our strong hold unmolested.
Lisa and I settle down to get some much needed rest. This time I tell Mr. Barclay specifically to give us eight hours of rest. By the time we get up its about 04:00 on 7/22/2013.
Our group gets together to decide on a plan of action. We decide to see if we cant find a way to the bridge and lower the life boats that does not involve Howard making a suicide run. Our group is stronger by the addition of Lisa and Tabithas squad mate Jonathan, but this time we agree Dr. Rivet is too important to the group to come along so he stays with the wounded.
We clear the forward stair-well of all zombies(S.Z.). We settle on deck eight the bridge deck and start our scouting run to see if we can get to the bridge. I see two zombies(S.Z.) at the elevator door right next to the stair-well door we are at. I crack the door open and tap my boar-spear on the wall to get their attention, but the music meant to mask our movement is to loud and they don’t hear me. Oh man this is almost laughable. I detatch my house keys from my key ring and toss them at the zombies(S.Z.) this does the trick. In the fight Kevin gets the killing blow on both of them. WoW now this is sick, I think I might accually be getting a little jealous about his ability to kill zombies(S.Z.) better than me. We scout the starboard and port-side hallways to the bridge and see more than twenty zombies(S.Z.) in both. Way too many to fight through. We go to deck seven to see if we can get to the crew stairs to the bridge, but the hallways are packed on that deck as well. We go to deck ten to see if we can rappel down to the bridge. No joy there is over a hundred zombies(S.Z.) between us and our goal. We go back to deck eight then we radio down to have them turn off the P.A. System so we can through a noise distraction divice that Kevin made to clear the hallways of as many zombies(S.?) as possible. It was successful because we have only one zombie(S.Z.) in the left hall.
We charge it and I kill it. We try to open the bridge door but its barricaded. We put our shoulders into it and push, it makes a lot of noise. I know that will draw back some of the ombies(S.Z.). It surprises the hell out of me, but Tabitha does a crazy cartwheel manuver through the door partially open door. She clears the barricad from in side and we get in before any zombies(S.Z.) get to us.
We re-barricad all the doors to the bridge just in time to hear zombies(S.Z.) banging at most of them. Great now we are trapped on the bridge. We start talking out our options and it feels like we start to develop a pretty solid evacuation plan. Mr. Barclay looks at me and I know what he is about to say. I want to scream at him to shut the fuck up but I keep it together. He asks me what about your son? I tell him that I have not forgoten about Jassan that I hope someone has found him, but I know that between the thousands of zombies(S.Z.) on the ship and the fact that he has been with out food and water for two and half days and that he may have fallen down seven decks of air ducting the chances of him being alive are extreamly low, and that I have my daughter to worrie about she is here and alive. As we continue to put our evacuation plan together I ask Mr. Barclay to show me how to work the security video system so I can scan deck five and four to see if I can spot Jassan.
The plan: We realize we can operate individual klaxon alarms from the bridge and the engine room.
1) Lower the life boats. Use the mid-ship deck eight klaxons then the aft-ship deck eight klaxons to draw the zombies away from the bridge so we can get back to the engine room.
2) Call all the pokets of people we found with the phone system and explain the evacuation plan.
3) Use the deck one klaxons to clear the way for us so we can get to the boats.
4) Use the ship wide klaxons to systimaticly clear areas of the ship so people can make their way off the ship as best they can.
We put the evacuation plan into action. I get Lisa and myself on a life boat. When all is said and done we get five boats towing five other boats and a little over two hundred survivors. Jassan is not among the survivors. I say a prayer for Jassan. May God and Lisa forgive me for abandoning him cause I know I never will.
We head for the main land Florida specifically. But we hit a big ass storm that blows us off course for three weeks. We finally hit land and find our selves in Hampstead North Carolina way off course. By the time we hit land we are down to a little over thirty survivors.
